Beyond Classroom

“The arts are an essential element of education, just like reading, writing, and Arithmetic…music, dance, painting, and theater are all keys that unlock profound human understanding and accomplishment.” ~William Bennett, Former US Secretary of Education

Indian School Al Seeb believes in this maxim and hopes that everyone can find their niche and will be able to develop an interest or passion.

ISAS CLUBS

It is important to appreciate the contribution of the skills set a learner can obtain from being part of a club at school. Clubs offer important life skills that a learner can use for the rest of his or her life. Your participation in clubs can hone your communication skills, foster creative thinking, and teach you how to work effectively with other people.

The school has various clubs as mentioned below:

ART & CRAFT CLUB: Drawing is a great way to communicate and understand one’s thinking & emotions. The club encourages students to adopt innovative techniques and develops their ideas and skills.

ECO CLUB: It empowers students to participate and take up meaningful environmental activities and projects. It motivates students to explore environmental concepts and actions beyond the confines of a syllabus or curriculum.

PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB: This club promotes creativity, technical skills, and also spread the love of photography.  It also provides a supportive environment for interested photography students to share their creativity, knowledge and passion for photography.

MUSIC CLUB:  It plays an eruptive expression for young one that speaks in emotions. Music connects with the automatic nervous system and the limbic system. Music club sparks their curiosity and ignite a life time passion.

QUIZ CLUB: ISAS Quiz Club is a unique and exciting way to motivate, inspire, encourage and reward children in their quest for knowledge and provide them with the opportunity to celebrate their achievements. ISAS Quiz Club reinforce team work, boost confidence, encourage strategic thinking and light the fire for knowledge.

DANCE CLUB: Dancing improves integrity in the young mind, buoy mood, and speed up thinking process reducing memory problems. Dance club creates opportunities among growing minds for self-expression & communication via dance.

GAVEL CLUB : The Gavel Club of ISAS (Toastmasters International)   is a brave attempt to transform our children into confident leaders and effective speakers. Toastmasters International is a world leader in communication and leadership development operating in 122 countries. Since 1924, more than 4 million people around the world have become dynamic confident speakers and leaders as a result of their participation in Toastmasters.

CULINARY CLUB : Culinary club, where students are introduced to the world of culinary art and encouraged to make healthy food choices. Students also have the opportunity to learn not only about food preparation, culinary tools, safety while cooking but also table manners and etiquette.

STITCHING & EMBROIDERY CLUB : Stitching or swing is an important life skill and is thee vehicle to teach self confidence through skill building. Sewing helps you to improve your focus and concentration and teaches the importance of patience and self control.  Kids who practice sewing will know how to use their fingers properly, how to move their hands with precision and how to hold and use small items with ease.

For our students we have Gavel club as we believe public speaking is one of the most important skill that a child needs to develop. Those who are effective at communication demonstrate creativity, critical thinking skills, and poise , and they get a leg up on competition. That’s important because  everything in life is a competition.

Clubs help build a learner into a well-equipped citizen contributing significantly to the production of a nation. At least be part of one club.

DANCE

COSCHOLASTIC DEPARTMENT

The Co-scholastic department at ISAS is an exciting and vibrant department, which incorporates a full spectrum of creative subjects including Dance, Music, Fine Art, and Marching Band. Apart from this we have an array of clubs to foster young minds creativity and passion. We aim to deliver a strong relevant curriculum where students are enabled to develop into confident artists, incorporating cross curricular links. The department is successful in providing a positive learning environment where pupils value and enjoy the arts and achieve their full potential. As a department we provide a variety of extra-curricular opportunities to showcase and highlight talent within and outside the school.

“Dancing is surely the most basic and relevant of all forms of expression. Nothing else can so effectively give outward form to an inner experience.” Lyall Watson

As dance is a powerful and expressive subject, we facilitate the students to develop their creative, physical, emotional and intellectual capacity, whatever their previous experience in the subject. Performing and choreography play an important role in the course and there is also the opportunity to study other styles and genres of dance. The critical appreciation of dance is also central to developing students understanding of different styles and cultural influences.

MUSIC

Music has a power of forming the character and should therefore be introduced into the education of the young.                     (Aristotle)

ISAS Music Department aims to serve a broad curriculum that engages and inspires students. Students are supported by teachers and professionals who have a passion for all types of music and have a wide experience of performance at the highest level.  Through music lessons we try to make our students sensitize towards the culture of the home away from home and also our roots.  It helps to  improve their learning and concentration skills. They learn patience, coordination and cooperation while practicing music.

ART

The purpose of art education is not to produce more artists, though that is a byproduct. The real purpose of art education is to create complete human beings capable of leading successful and productive lives in a free society.

Dana Gioia

Visual arts teach learners about color, layout, perspective, and balance: all techniques that are necessary in presentations (visual, digital) of academic work. We train Students in various types of arts like drawing, sketching, paper craft, designing, sculptures, painting etc. Through these  art and craft activities  we help students to improve their imagination skills, their creative skills and also learn to express their thoughts more openly. Students who do arts and crafts do not find difficulty in learning as their patience and mental skill is strong.
