Department of Science

   The Science Department is striving to offer an excellent science education to students of all ages and abilities. It is our intention to have a curriculum which is taught in an engaging, stimulating and intellectually challenging environment. Our staff are subject specialists and are driven by the desire to ensure that all learners make good progress in every lesson. We have high expectations of our students in terms of behaviour, attitude and effort. The science staff are always available to support parents in achieving the best possible outcomes for their children.

Curriculum Enhancement:

Provide a knowledge-rich curriculum which generates an inquisitive, healthy curiosity of the world and its place in the universe and a sense of wonder at its complexity and beauty.

Increase scientific literacy and engagement with science, developing the knowledge, wisdom and skills required to make informed decisions based on evidence and fact, to take appropriate actions that affect their own well-being, the wellbeing of society and the environment.

Integrate more hands-on laboratory experiences, STEAM and real-world applications into the curriculum.

Foster interdisciplinary collaboration between science and other departments

Student Engagement:

Increase student participation in science fairs, competitions, and extracurricular activities related to science.

Develop a peer group mentorship program.

Research and Innovation:

Encourage and support the students in conducting original research projects.

Establish partnerships with local universities and research institutions to provide students with access to advanced research facilities.

Community Involvement:

Study Tour: Collaborate with local industries and organizations on science-related projects that benefit the students.

Professional Development:

Provide continuous professional development opportunities for science teachers for higher education and to stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in science education.

Encourage faculty to attend and present at workshops and seminars.

Sustainability and Environmental Stewardship:

Implement green initiatives within the department, such as reducing waste in laboratories and promoting energy conservation.

Educate students on sustainability practices and encourage them to participate in environmental protection projects.
